The next day, the town convenes in the main street. Carmen acts as a witness for the Twins, outlining the rules. Ray is to fight for Elle and Van is to fight for Earl. The winning side will access the vault and the inheritance. The twins agree but before anyone can act, Ray quickly shoots Earl in the side, severely injuring her. He also remotely activates his armor, Volkein which tunnels underground, causing a massive earthquake in the town. He grabs Earl's pendant and he and Elle head to the vault door, using the two pendant halves to unlock the vault.

The Claw approaches Ray, saying that his dream cannot kill him. He makes the same offer again to Ray, saying that if they share in a dream they can achieve harmony together. The Claw helps Ray stand up and Ray smirks, noting he has The Claw where he wants him. He summons his armor, [[Volkein]], to help The Claw remember his wife. The Claw remembers, noting that Volkein was created to serve his dream. As Shino created Volkein, that means that Shino is alive within The Claw. This enrages Ray who tries to kill them both with Volkein's gun, but the bullets are deflected by another armor that bursts out of the ground. Ray enters the cockpit for Volkein and tries to grab the armor, but is knocked back through a window and crashes to the ground.

After battling with Fasalina for a moment, she suddenly retreats. With his wounded vision, Ray asks Joshua where she went, but Joshua says she's not on the radar anymore. Ray suggests they push onward. The El Dorado Five tell Ray they will handle the rear along with Priscilla.

Ray leads the Hoverbase forward, only to be ambushed by more 1-0-1 armors. He easily guns them down with Volkein's weaponry. Suddenly, the entire island begins to shake and raise up into the sky as The Claw's Birthday System is activated. Ray spots a beam of light in the distance, and confirms with Joshua that it is their destination.

Without warning, Fasalina returns, using Dahlia to ensnare Volkein in her G.E.R fluid. Joshua breaks the Hoverbase Volkein is on and Ray attacks Fasalina, sending her flying backwards. He uses his pulse cannon to blast her, but she dodges, mocking him. However, he uses Volkein's deflecting cloak to redirect the blast at Dahlia again, damaging her shield and destroying her left laser cannon. Ray then orders Joshua and the others to retreat as he takes care of Fasalina.
  +
  +
As they fight, Fasalina scolds Ray for fighting only for vengeance, when she and her allies fight to protect their comrades dream, making them stronger. Ray counters by saying that his dream was to live in peace with his wife, but because they refused to go along with The Claw's vision, he killed her. While Fasalina claims her Comrade's dream is for humanity, Ray criticizes it for asking him and others to throw away their own humanity.

The pair continue to do battle, and Fasalina wonders how an ordinary rider like Ray could keep up with a member of The Original Seven. Ray reveals to her that the upgraded weaponry she and the other seven use was built from the weaponry found on Volkein. The fight becomes more intense, with Volkein and Dahlia damaging each other severely. Suddenly, Joshua, driving the Hoverbase surprises Fasalina, allowing Ray to blast Dahlia back with a powerful shot. He then destroys Dahlia with further blasts, leaving Fasalina immobile. However, she managed to damage his pulse cannon in the process, rendering it useless.

Ray meets with Joshua on the Hoverbase, and they head towards the center of the island. Ray suddenly asks Joshua what he thought of [[Shino]]. Joshua tells him that of course he liked her. He was envious of Ray, having a wonderful wife and amazing armor like Volkein too. He confesses that he couldn't have followed the path for revenge like Ray has, even though Shino's death greatly affected him too. He tells Ray he's just a coward but Ray disagrees. Ray confesses that he himself has been running from the pain and suffering of losing his wife. He couldn't bear to face that side, so pursued The Claw for revenge. Once it's all over, he can finally grieve and move on.

Ray tells Joshua to follow his own dreams, and figure out what he wants from life. Before Joshua can reply, Ray knocks him unconscious. He leaves Joshua in the nearby woods, and drives the Hoverbase himself towards The Claw's Birthday System at the center of the island. Before he can reach him, Saudade and Michael suddenly appear and attempt to stop him. Ray jumps from Volkein and detonates it, destroying the armor and the Hoverbase in the process. This causes Saudade to become trapped under the debris from the Hoverbase.
  +
  +
Ray then advances up the staircase to The Claw, killing several guards in the process. His wounded vision makes his shots miss The Claw, until he stands in front of him face to face. The Claw tells Ray he cannot spend anymore time with him, as he has to finish his dream. Ray tells The Claw that when a man is deprived of his dream, he becomes tormented with suffering and grief which he can truly never get over. He asks the Claw if he can imagine such pain, then asks him to chose between his life, or his dream. The Claw seems unfazed and Ray shoots at him, but the bullet is deflected. The Claw notes it's too bad he missed, but Ray tells him it will do. The Claw then notices the bullet lodged in The Birthday System's gears, making the machine malfunction. Ray is pleased, noting that The Claw's dream is now over.
  +
  +
Suddenly, The Claw's security gun Ray down, and he begins to fall down the staircase. Ray catches a final glimpse of The Claw's shocked face, and is satisfied with his actions. As he falls, he says goodbye to Joshua, and tumbles down the staircase, dead.

This article details the series history of Ray.

And the Rain Kept Falling

Arriving in the town of Saint Elixir, Ray heads to the Denehee clinic, pursuing information about The Claw. He speaks with Marie, asking her if she knows anything. It is then implied Ray talks with Doctor Denehee.

Ep414

Twin's Guards

Ray is headhunted by Carmen 99 to act as a bodyguard to Elle Driver, one of two twin leaders of the town B-5-10. He is to protect Elle and execute her sister, Earl Driver and retrieve her half of a pendant that unlocks a massive vault containing the twin's Father's inheritance.

Upon meeting Elle through Carmen, he immediately attacks Earl, but is fought off by Van, Earl's bodyguard. Ray manages to shoot Earl's assistant but is forced to retreat.

Ep503

That evening Ray informs Elle of his attack but is interrupted by Van. He and Van face off, with Ray shooting at him. Van manages to avoid his bullets until Ray is out of ammo, being forced to retreat. Elle calls for back up so Van follows Ray.

The two meet again on a roof top in town. Van warns Ray not to get involved as what he's being paid isn't enough. Ray responds by telling him he isn't interested in money, and is only after one thing; revenge. Ray tells Van that The Claw murdered his wife, Shino. Ray is shocked to learn that the same thing happened to Van. Ray warns Van that he will be the one to kill The Claw and that Van doesn't seem up to the task. He then aims his gun at Wendy, who is sitting in a room just above them. Ray suggests that they join forces as they share the same desire, killing The Claw. Van is shocked by how quickly Ray could betray his contract with Elle, and thinks working with Ray would be a disgrace to his late wife. Ray chastises Van, telling him his vengeance is to kind. They agree to settle things the following day.

Entering the vault, Elle is shocked to find a massive armor. Ray threatens her, as she promised information on The Claw. Before she can respond, Van appears, carrying the injured Earl and Ray shoots at them but misses. Elle then activates a video of her father, which details the massive armor, Twin Lock and his experiments on the town. Ray notices that Twin Lock seats two, and realizes that the Twins can only operate it together.

Sick of listening to the video, Ray shoots the monitor, thinking he came all this way for nothing. Distraught at her father's revelation, Elle grabs Ray and asks him if her father was lying. He shoots her and tries to leave, but Van attacks him, angered by his cruelty.

During their fight, the Twins activate Twin Lock, and attack both Van and Ray. Ray takes cover as Van summons his armor, Dann which shocks Ray. The twins using Twin Lock manage to over power Van using Dann, and they turn their attention to Ray. Ray responds by shooting through the floor, falling into Volkien which had drilled it's way under the vault. Volkien then emerges from the drill shell and proceeds to face Twin Lock and Dann.

Ray uses Volkien to damage Twin Lock, shooting off two of it's four arms. He then tries to blast Elle & Earl in their cockpit, but is stopped by Dann. Van thinks Ray is going to far and Ray thinks he's too soft. He warns Van that anything that stands in his way will be destroyed. He blasts Twin Lock and destroys it.

He retreats into his armor's shell and leaves, burrowing underground despite Van calling for him.

Bound by Blood

Ray saves Van & Joshua from a dragon armor in the mountains using Volkein's cannon. Joshua calls out to Ray but Ray tells him to go home and stop pursing him. It is revealed that Joshua is Ray's younger brother.

Ray has a meal in a local restaurant he often visits, but is startled when the Waitress brings Van to sit with him.

Ray asks Van to help him take down the Dragon armor, noting that he needs someone to distract it so he can shoot it down with Volkein. Ray wants to only immobilize the armor so they can leave the cockpit and pilot unharmed. Van is skeptical, asking Ray why he should trust him. Ray suggests he use Joshua as a hostage if it makes him feel better, which cause Van to nearly attack Ray. This rouses the waitress, but the two calm down. Van thinks they could end their rivalry right now, but Ray leaves and tells him to meet him tomorrow to stop the Dragon.

The next day, Van & Ray pilot their armors and Van distracts the Dragon in the mountains. Ray charges up Volkein's cannon as Van & Dann distract the Dragon. It manages to ensnare Dann, disarming him and Ray aims to shoot it but is momentarily distracted by Joshua and Wendy who appear. He still hits the Dragon but misses the gaps in it's exterior. The dragon focuses it's attention on Ray & Volkein. It throws Dann's sword at him, then carries him away as Ray attempts to shoot it down. Ray charges up Volkein's hand gun and is then contacted by Van over his headset. Van tells Ray that he has to aim for the Dragon's dorsal fins, and Ray hears Joshua on the line, who tells him that when the Dragon fires it's laser, it's dorsal fins open and are structurally weaker on the inside. Ray isn't interested in help but Volkein is smashed into a wall by the Dragon, causing him to drop his gun.

Ep815

Luckily, Dann picks the gun up and shoots the Dragon before it blasts him, causing the Dragon to collapse with it's head falling off, leaving the cockpit unharmed. Ray & Van investigate and find the pilot has been dead for sometime. Ray realizes the Dragon has been running on an automated system, but it ultimately is just another failed experiment like the Twins in B-5-10. Van recovers a data board from the armor and Ray points his gun at him, wanting the board for himself. The two face off but Joshua appears, asking Ray to come home with him. Ray tells him that all he lives for now is avenging Shino's death.

He tells Joshua to go home and not come after him again, saying goodbye to him.

The Days of No Return

Carmen scold Van for thinking The Claw will be out in the open at Zonnet Junction, noting that he must be

Rayep12

aware that Van and Ray will be after him.

Much later, Ray finally tracks The Claw down and ambushes him in the Sky Garden, attacking from above with a hail of bullets.

Dream in Progress

The Claw: "Tell me something gunslinger, I'm curious do you have a dream? Come now, everyone has one. What is it that you dream of?"

Ray: "Me? my dream... My dream is to TEAR YOU TO PIECES!" - Ray confronts The Claw.

Attacking from the skylight above the Sky Garden, Ray attempts to shoot The Claw but is stopped by a flock of birds that get in the way, He descends the skylight on a wire and tries to shoot him again, but is stopped by a woman, who knocks him down with a staff. Joshua and Wendy are also at the scene, and Joshua runs to Ray's side but Ray pushes him away.

The Claw asks Ray if he has a dream, and Ray tells him it is to kill The Claw. The Claw is impressed. Joshua pleads with Ray to stop, as it wouldn't have been what Shino would have wanted. The Claw thinks it's wonderful that Ray has such a strong dream. He is curious as to why Ray wants to kill him. Ray screams that it was because The Claw killed his wife, Shino. The Claw tries to reason with Ray, saying that Shino is still alive within Ray. He offers Ray a partnership with the Original Seven, noting Ray's abilities.

Rayep13

Ray rejects the offer and launches another attack, only to be blocked by the woman. He manages to knock her aside and takes another shot at The Claw. To Ray's surprise, Joshua jumped in front of the bullet and was hit in the arm. Shocked, Ray asks why would Joshua do such a thing, and Joshua tells him he doesn't want to see Ray become a murderer. Before Ray can act the woman manages to disarm him with her staff.

The Claw approaches Ray, saying that his dream cannot kill him. He makes the same offer again to Ray, saying that if they share in a dream they can achieve harmony together. The Claw helps Ray stand up and Ray smirks, noting he has The Claw where he wants him. He summons his armor, Volkein, to help The Claw remember his wife.

Follow the X Spot

"Wasn't expecting a lake down here. Damn it. The foundation is coming apart." - Ray's tunneling causes problems.

After the events at Zonnet Junction, Ray has been tracking Van and co through the headset he left in Wendy's luggage. He uses Volkien to drill underground, following Van to Bokini. He notices Van has stopped out in the open again, and wonders what he is up to.

Rayep17

Sometime later, Ray starts tunneling under Bokini and comes up in the underground lake. He continues onward despite noticing the foundations beginning to crumple.

Prayer's End

"Hey buddy! Long time no see! Sorry though I don't have time to play right now!" - Van upon seeing Ray again.

Having tracked Van to the undersea tunnel, Ray digs up through the tunnel's floor with Volkien in order to reach The Claw before Van. However, Ray shoots an oncoming target that turns out to be Van in Dann. The other reading Ray saw turn out to be Melissa and Carossa, in their armors Sin of Friday and Sen of Saturday. Their blasts damage Ray's Excavation Drill.

Rayep19

As Van fights both Melissa and Carossa, Ray stays back in order to let Van do all the work. During the fight Dann lands in Volkien's Drill much to Ray's annoyance; he wants nothing to do with the fight. However, when Van notes that Joshua is in the nearby Hoverbase and could get hurt, Ray seems to reluctantly join in the fight.

The fight continues, with Ray trying to shoot Melissa and Carossa as Van fights them head on.

Van manages to damage Sin of Friday, enraging Carossa. Ray uses Volkien's cannon shoot Carossa, but it is intercepted by Melissa. The blast destroys Sen of Saturday and Melissa dies. Enraged, Carossa rushes Ray but is also killed by Ray's cannon.

Wonderful Universe

After the defeating Melissa and Carossa, Ray separates from the others again. He finds a cave on the island

Rayep20

to recover. It seems that in Carossa's final attack, he was able to hit Ray and Volkien with a blast, hurting Ray and damaging his vision. Ray tries to shoot some scrap metal from afar, but finds he keeps missing.

Prayers to Heaven & Peace on Earth

"Yup, that's it, the armor that carried The Claw out of Zonnet." - Ray spot Saudade and readies his cannon.

Rayep21

Using Volkein, Ray digs up from the earth and finds an ideal spot in the forest. From his vantage point, he can see Saudade ready to be launched into space. He recognizing it as the Armor that carried The Claw out of Zonnet. Despite his wounded vision, Ray takes aim with his cannon so he can destroy it and ruin The Claw's plan.

Unfortunately for Ray, Fasalina arrive in her armor, Dahlia of Wednesday and knocks his cannon of course, allowing Saudade to launch safely. She then proceeds to cripple Volkien, using Dahlia's cannons to destroy Volkein's arms.

For Whose Sake?

Van: "You can't see, can ya?"

Ray: "Tch, you're the one whose living on borrowed time. You'll be lucky to see tomorrow."

Van: "I'll get better, up there in the sky."

Ray: "Don't push yourself, I can take care of The Claw." - Ray and Van argue over who will kill The Claw.

Wendy notices the headset Ray gave them has a red blinking light in it. Realizing it's a tracker, Joshua, Carmen, Wendy and Yukiko confront Ray and ask for his help. Carmen tells him of Van's situation and requests the use of Volkein's jingu engine to help give them a power boost. Ray tells her it has nothing to do with him. Joshua tells Ray he should join them, as he's clearly been tracking them so he can follow their progress. Before Ray can respond, Yukiko walks up to him and slaps him in the face. She has noticed his weakened condition and asks him how can someone in such a state be out on his own. Angered by her, Ray reaches for his gun but Joshua stops him, telling him to just use them to get to The Claw if he has to.

Rayep22

Ray helps the group with repairs, and has Volkein's engine hooked up to the building so they have enough power to launch Dann.

That evening, Ray asks Joshua why he is helping him, and Joshua tells him he can't do everything on his own. Joshua goes to get some sleep and Van returns Ray's headset to him. He realizes that Ray's vision has been damaged. Van and Ray have a confrontation, where both want to be the one to kill The Claw. However, they come to a mutual understanding and respect for each other, hoping that if one of them fails to kill him, the other will succeed.

Later Ray has his picture taken with all the others as a memento of their success at figuring out how to launch Van safely.

With the groups combined effort, they prepare to launch Dann into space with Van inside, connecting him to Diablo's satellite

A Song for Everyone

Ray: "I'm going to use Volkein to kill The Claw soon. And I know how opposed you are to that. Truth is, you're right to be."

Joshua: "It doesn't matter though, I still couldn't stop you could I?" - Joshua supports Ray's quest for revenge.

After Van's launch, the protagonists wait in anticipation of his return. Ray witnesses a strange beam of light being launched into space, and wonders what it could be. He tells Joshua he wants to head to The Claw's base of operations, and they group make plans to head in that direction.

That evening, Joshua helps Ray with upgrading Volkein. Ray tells Joshua that he plans to use Volkein to kill The Claw, and he knows that Joshua is against that. Joshua tells Ray that it doesn't matter, as long as Ray lives. He knows that if Ray kill The Claw, he will finally be able to move on. Yukiko appears with snacks and tells Joshua that Carmen is going over the plan inside. Joshua heads in to hear it.

Rayep23

Yukiko tells Ray that he looks a lot healthier, and that he could take on anything in that shape. He tells her he only has one thing left to do. She asks him what his plans are after he's killed The Claw. Ray tells Yukiko he plans to dump Volkein into the deepest waters to allow Shino's memory to finally rest.

Ray suddenly asks Joshua what he thought of Shino.

Suddenly, The Claw's security gun Ray down, and he begins to fall down the staircase. Ray catches a final glimpse of The Claw's shocked face, and is satisfied with his actions. As he falls, he says goodbye to Joshua, and tumbles down the staircase, dead.

The final scene of the episode features a scene between him and Shino, where they are reunited.
